The Montgomery County Police Department has arrested and charged a Germantown man for possessing a stolen firearm.
The man has been identified as Brasean Decarlos Wellington, 28, and he faces multiple firearm related charges.
On Friday, March 25, 2022, at approximately 3:35 p.m., officers observed a black 2009 BMV with an equipment safety violation at the Milestone Shopping Center and conducted a traffic stop. As officers approached the vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana, according to a press release.
“A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun that was hidden in a compartment behind the glovebox,” according to police. Investigators found that the gun was stolen from Prince William County, Virginia.
Wellington is prohibited from carrying a firearm, police said. He was arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit.
