Germantown Teen Sentenced to Serve 15 Years in Fatal Shooting

A third co-defendant has been sentenced in a 2022 fatal shooting in Germantown, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).

Daylon Miller, 19, of Germantown, was sentenced Thursday to serve 15 years in prison and five years of probation after release. The judge recommended Miller be admitted to the Patuxent Youthful Offenders Program while incarcerated.

Investigation revealed Miller was one of four co-defendants involved in an ongoing dispute between gangs in the Germantown and Gaithersburg areas, according to MCSAO. The victim was associated with a rival gang.

Miller pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Taon Cline of Frederick.

In February, brothers Malachi and Malik Hney were sentenced to serve 30 years each in the shooting. The fourth co-defendant’s case is in juvenile court, according to MCSAO.

Cline was shot and killed April 22, 2022 on Gunners Branch Road in Germantown, according to police. Officers responded to the 19500 block of Gunners Branch Road for a reported shooting, police stated. They found Cline with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began lifesaving efforts. Cline was pronounced dead at the scene.
