About 3,000 runners participated in the Girls on the Run Fall 5K in Bethesda Sunday. The race finished in the parking lot of Westfield Montgomery mall.
Girls on the Run of Montgomery County is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and preparing 3rd though 8th grade girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
The 5K is the culmination of a 10-week program.
Race director Leannne Till told MCM, “The finish line is the best place to see what true accomplishment is. Everybody across the finish line has a smile across their face and that’s what we do for Girls on the Run. We try to give them confidence.”
When asked how she feels watching the participants, Till said “goosebumps. That’s all I have to say. Goosebumps…Just watching these young women as they sprint at the finish line… it’s a really lovely event and it’s a great way to support our girls.”
