Governor Moore Makes Time Magazine’s 100 Next List

On Wednesday, Time Magazine announced its Time100 Next list. Governor Wes Moore received the honor for his response to the Key Bridge collapse and his sense of urgency in addressing Maryland’s most pressing issues.

The Time100 Next list honors leaders in health, climate, entertainment sports and more who make headlines today and are expected to “play an important role in leading the future”. Some of the other leaders on this year’s list include: NBA Finals MVP Boston Celtic Jaylen Brown, Actress and Singer Sabrina Carpenter and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.

Moore told Time he applies urgency to his work in Maryland to “reduce child poverty and make communities safer, supporting measures to raise the minimum wage, combat gun violence, boost housing affordability—and a June executive order pardoning tens of thousands of low-level marijuana convictions.” The article also notes Moore’s rise in the Democratic Party and his emergence as a possible future presidential candidate. According to the magazine he keeps a clock on his desk counting down the days until the end of his first term on January 20, 2027.

This is the fifth year that Time100 Next has created an annual list to recognize influential leaders. They are chosen by Time editors through nominations from Time100 alumni and the magazine’s internal writing staff.
