Grand Juries Indict Two Drivers for Separate Fatal Collisions

Montgomery County grand juries indicted two drivers involved in separate fatal collisions, authorities announced Monday.

Robert Worrell, 75, of Brookeville was indicted on July 28 on felony hit and run charges.

The morning of Aug. 11, 2020, Worrell fatally struck 64-year-old Robert Lawrence with his Ford F-250 in the 4100 block of Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring, police say.

Lawrence, of Silver Spring, was transported to a local hospital–where he died three days later.

“During the course of the investigation, Montgomery County Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) detectives were able to obtain evidence identifying Worrell as the driver of the truck that struck and killed Lawrence,” according to a Montgomery County Police press release. “Detectives determined that Worrell failed to stop, remain on the scene of the collision, render reasonable aid, or report the pedestrian collision to the police.”

In a separate case, Jeniffer Vallecillo, 34, of Gaithersburg was indicted on vehicular manslaughter and homicide while under the influence of alcohol charges, following a two-vehicle collision that occurred at Midcounty Highway and Saybrooke Oaks Boulevard on Nov. 29, 2021.

According to investigators, Vallecillo was driving a 2021 Toyota Camry when her vehicle collided with Anupom Ghosh, 49, of Gaithersburg, who was driving a 2018 Honda CRV. Ghosh was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

“CRU detectives determined that Vallecillo had been driving at a high rate of speed and was under the influence of alcohol when she ran a red light and collided with Ghosh’s Honda,” police said.

Trails are pending in both cases.
