There are plenty of places in or near Montgomery County to have some spooky Halloween fun. Here’s a list of some haunted forests and houses, live theater and movies for the scariest time of the year.

Features a hike through the Super Trail and a visit to the Slaughter Factory Haunted House

This year tickets are only sold online and include the hike and the haunted house. An electronic waiver must be signed. The event is designed to be scary so parents should use their discretion when deciding to bring children.

Markoff’s Haunted Forest
Features a hike through the Markoff’s Haunted Forest and hayride and hike through The Town. Both events take 30 minutes.

Tickets are only sold online and may be purchased for either the hike through the haunted forest or the hayride and visit to the town. Tickets are only available online. The events are open to adults and children ages 12+.

Kindred Hills in Frederick
Features a hayride into the darkness. Participants walk a dimly lit trail through the woods.

Kindred Hills starts with a bumpy hayride along a dimly lit trail, followed by a walk through the woods. Tickets are only sold online and the event will be cancelled in bad weather. Check the website for updates as a decision to close will be made by 5 p.m. and an email will be sent to ticket holders. This is not recommended for children under 8.

Laurel’s House of Horror
Features a haunted house tour, three escape rooms and ghost tours.

Laurel’s House of Horror is located in an abandoned movie theater in the Laurel Shopping Center. Tickets are sold online as well as at the box office. The haunted house features themed areas and experiences as part of the walk-through. There are three escape rooms and tickets are sold separately for this experience.
