A heat emergency alert continues in Montgomery County until Saturday.
The county issued the alert from 11 a.m. Thursday to 9 p.m. Saturday. It is declared when temperature or heat index is forecast for 105 degrees or more for two days or longer, per a release.
There are heat advisories and warnings in effect throughout the state.
During this time, here are 10 things the county wants residents to know to stay safe during a heat wave, including symptoms of heat-related illness.
On Wednesday, County Health Officer Dr. Kisha Davis recommended residents drink plenty of water and stay indoors when possible.
