House Struck by Lightning in Poolesville

Lightning struck a house Saturday night in Poolesville, according to fire and rescue service officials.

Three adults were displaced and there were no injuries, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer. 

65 firefighters responded to the home on Westerly Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Piringer. Lightning struck the house, causing a fire which originated in the basement laundry room.  

Damage is estimated to be more than $1 million.
