All southbound lanes on I-270 near Doctor Perry Road were closed after a tractor trailer caught fire Wednesday morning.
Crews arrived on the scene around 5:57 a.m. and responded to the fire. The driver of the tractor trailer was out of the vehicle, Frederick County Fire & Rescue said.
Authorities diverted traffic to MD-80. Northbound lanes are open, but rubbernecking delays stretched for about two miles, the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination program said at 8:11 a.m.
Southbound lanes remained closed as of 8:50 a.m., WTOP reported.
