‘I Couldn’t Believe It’: Silver Spring Man Claims $250,000 Lottery Winnings

A Silver Spring man won $250,000 playing the Maryland Lottery. The home improvement contractor claimed his winnings at lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Thursday, June 13.

He initially thought his $10 instant ticket was not a winner but scanned it for verification. The ticket checker revealed great news. “I scanned it and it said that I won. I had to scan it again. I couldn’t believe it,” he told lottery officials. He hadn’t initially seen the “WINALL” words or the moneybag symbol on his ticket, which meant he won all 25 $10,000 prizes.

The winner purchased the ticket at Glen Echo Pharmacy in Bethesda. The pharmacy receives a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

He plans to use his winnings to pay bills and college tuition for his children.

Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
