Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School implemented a new safety policy Monday, with all students now required to show their issued photo ID card to gain entry into the building.
The change comes after a community meeting held inside B-CC on Jan. 29 saw staff, parents, and county officials discuss the issue of student safety.
B-CC joins Richard Montgomery High School, which enforced the display of student ID cards starting Feb. 2023.
Beginning TODAY 2/5/24, all students will be required to display their current B-CC photo ID to gain entry to the building. Replacement IDs will result in a $5 obligation. Questions related to the student ID requirement can be directed to your assistant principal. pic.twitter.com/oojNj47P6f

The second half of the academic year got off to a tough start for B-CC, marked by an in-school fight on the first day back from winter break.
The school also made headlines in September after a brawl involving students broke out following a football game against rival Walter Johnson.
