As Maryland’s General Election approaches on Nov. 5, here’s are the ways to vote and the key dates to know:
How to Vote
There are three ways to vote in the General Election:
1. Vote by Mail
Registered voters may request a mail-in ballot by completing a request form or texting VBM to 77788. Return the ballot via drop box, U.S. mail, or at your precinct on Election Day.
2. Early Voting (Oct. 24-31)
Early Voting Centers are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can go to any of the 14 Early Voting Centers in Montgomery County.
3. In-Person on Election Day
Vote at your assigned polling place on Nov. 5. If you go to the wrong location, you’ll need to use a provisional ballot. Same-day registration is available with ID. Find polling location.
Key Dates
- Oct. 15: Last day to register to vote or update registration online/by mail.
- Oct. 24-31: Early Voting at county centers, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
- Oct. 29: Deadline to request a mail-in ballot by mail/fax.
- Nov. 1: Deadline to request a ballot delivered online.
- Nov. 5: Election Day. Polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by 8 p.m.
