Boyds native Kayla DiCello saw her 2024 Olympic hopes abruptly end when she injured her Achilles during her vault at the U.S. Olympic Trials. DiCello was taken off in a wheelchair. She was not able to keep competing so will not be eligible to make the team going to Paris Olympics later this month.
The University of Florida sophomore and Northwest High School alum was an alternate in 2021 at the Tokyo Olympics.
Kayla DiCello injured her Achilles in tonight’s competition and will be unable to compete in Olympic Trials.
We wish her the best in her recovery!
