The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) led by Megan Davey Limarzi announced its annual report on Thursday. It contains 18 different reports on matters of concern to county residents. It cites identification of $3.3 million dollars in questionable costs and the processing of 430 complaints on the OIG hotline more than double the year before. 43% of those complaints were related to Montgomery County Public Schools. It also points to 47 recommendations for improvement.
The Office also reviewed more than $59 million dollars in expenses, found more than $3 million in questionable costs and identified theft of $19, 190.
In the report Inspector General Limarzi states, “Transparency has been the word of the year, and it has been used over, and over again by our residents, our leaders, and our public employees. Every member of our community has a right to know what is happening in their local government and in their public schools.”
