Investigation of Fatal Shooting in Silver Spring Ongoing

Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) is investigating a fatal shooting involving a man in Silver Spring, according to a press release.

On Sept. 14 at approximately 4 p.m., PGPD officers responded to a shooting on the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue. They found Carlos Alberto Ortiz, of Silver Spring, suffering from gunshot wounds. Ortiz, 35, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the release.

A spokesperson from PGPD explained to MCM that they responded to the call since the area where the homicide occurred in Silver Spring falls within Prince George’s County’s jurisdiction.

Homicide Unit detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).

According to the release, a reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
