Jeannette Black, mother of comedian and Silver Spring native Lewis Black, died in her sleep October 10 her son announced on Twitter Wednesday. Mrs. Black turned 104 on September 8.
“She was a ferocious angel. When i perform you can hear her from time to time. Sarcasm was her sword. We were all lucky that she mothered us. I wont miss her. She is alway here,” Lewis Black said.

Lewis Black, 74, was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in Silver Spring attending Springbrook High School and studied at three schools including the University of Maryland. He is known for his angry rants during his stand-up routines, his appearances on Comedy Central and HBO and being the voice of Anger in the Pixar film Inside Out. He won a Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Comedy Album.
