Jeremiah Pope (D), a community advocate and chief of staff for a state delegate, will run for county council at-large in 2026.

“Montgomery County is at a crossroads,” Pope, a Silver Spring area resident, stated in a campaign announcement in February.

According to his campaign website, Pope started working as chief of staff in the Office of Delegate Charlotte Crutchfield (D) in 2019. He has worked on legislation that “breaks down systemic barriers, protects women and children, fights against hate crimes, and improves access to services for all Marylanders.”

“We need common sense leadership, that is going to address the housing affordability crisis, improve our public education, and support our community and police officers to reduce crime. It’s time to Reset, Renew, and Rebuild Montgomery County, back to a community we can all be proud of,” Pope stated in his campaign announcement.

He unsuccessfully ran for county council District 5 in 2022.

An advocate, Pope has joined local rallies, like a teachers union rally last year where MCM spoke with him. He recently attended a rally to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda.

He owns J Pope Consulting, a fundraising and consulting company.
