Friday, July 12
Dive-In Movie: The Germantown Outdoor Pool screens “Trolls: Band Together” starting at 8:30 p.m. Clear tubes will be provided to participants as no personal rafts will be allowed. Cost is $5 per person. Deck chairs will be available; personal chairs are allowed. All youth 17 and younger must have a guardian in the facility at all times. There will be limited space and registration is required via ActiveMONTGOMERY. The Germantown Outdoor Pool is located at 18905 Kingsview Road.
BlackRock Movie Nights: The BlackRock Center for the Arts screens ‘The Incredibles” on the front lawn at 8:30 p.m. Free. Bring a blanket or some lawn chairs for an evening under the stars. The center is located in Germantown at 12901 Town Commons Drive. For more information, click here.
Meadowside Nature Center Family Night: Explore a trail as the sun sets and gather items to make a nature scrapbook. Local artist Pamela Gordimer will demonstrate how to use watercolor to paint a picture of the collected items. Cost is $15. Main Street Farmers Market: The market operates every Saturday year-round from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located in the Kentlands neighborhood around the Main Street Pavilion at 301 Main Street. The market has fresh locally grown fruits, vegetable and microgreens, mushrooms, plants and flowers. Prepared dinners, homemade breads and artisan sweet treat are featured. Turtle Talk: This free, drop-in program . Brookide Nature Center staff lead a visit to the group of Eastern box turtles that make an outdoor enclosure their habitat. Visitors may observe their behavior and physical features and learn about the challenges turtles face. Free. Campfires at Black Hill: A Black Hill Discovery Center naturalist will build a campfire for the group. Expect singing, stories, games, and of course, s’mores around the fire. International Food and Craft Festival: Paintings, art photography, hand-made jewelry, glass and wood products, home decor, clothing and accessories will be on display at Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. Sample dishes from various corners of the world and dance to the music. Milkshake Concert: Milkshake, led by singer Lisa Mathews and guitarist Mikel Gehl perform for young children and their adults, Sunday, July 14 at Davis Library from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Free. Davis Library is located in Bethesda at 6400 Democracy Boulevard. For more information, click here.
Mad Hatter Extravaganza: Kentlands Mansion and the city of Gaithersburg are celebrating 30 years together with “Hats Off to 30 Years: A Kentlands Mansion Mad Hatter Extravaganza,” Sunday, July 14 from 4-7 p.m. This family-friendly event features vendors, fairy hair, jewelry, live music, children’s entertainment, beer and wine sales, and food trucks.
