Saving the Trees: Invasive plant species have slowly crept into Maryland over the years, which has damaged the ecosystem across the state. Therefore, nearly every week, volunteers in the Montgomery Parks’ Weed Warriors program help remove non-native species from local habitats. Montgomery Parks says volunteers have logged over 125,000 hours of service since 1999.
Farmers Market: A tradition since 2005, Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring plays host to one of the largest farmers markets in the state. Starting at 9 a.m., over 45 farmers and producers market their products to a bustling crowd. Oysters, jams, fresh fruits and more are all featured.
Sunday, July 30
