Friday, June 28
Play Date at the Library: Young children (age birth to 5 years old) and their parents are invited to have fun playing with age-appropriate toys at this drop-in activity at the Olney Library. Foodie Fridays Speakers Series: ‘Feed the Soul: Food & Mental Health’ is the topic for Montgomery Parks Speaker Series. Learn about food and mental wellbeing with neuropsychologist Dr. Nicole Salman from Snapdragon Wellness! The discussion takes place at the Josiah Henson Museum and Park visitor center located at 11410 Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required and costs $15.
Friday Night Salsa: All out Danza is hosting a free salsa night from 6-9 p.m. at the Pike District Pop-up Park near the Montgomery County Conference Center. Bring a friend, family member, or significant other, and learn a few salsa moves. Food and brews available for purchase from Salat Foods and Denizens. Saturday, June 29
Heritage Days: The 25th annual Heritage Days takes place from June 29-30, providing residents of all ages with various programs to enrich their understanding of the county’s history. The free festival highlights historic, cultural, and outdoor recreation sites offering special programs including exhibits and demonstrations, live music, activities for children, and much more. Heritage Days is the perfect chance to enjoy many small sites that are not regularly open to the public. Find more information, including a list of events here.
SummerFest At Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg: The Summerfest at Bohrer Park celebrates America’s independence, Saturday, June 29 from 6 to 11 p.m. The free event features live music, food trucks, local breweries, family-friendly activities, and a spectacular fireworks display and the SummerGlo After Party at the end. With The District dance band performing at 6 p.m., at 8:30 p.m., and during the After Party from 10 to 11 p.m., the delicious offerings, and the beautiful fireworks, this event promises to be fun for the whole family. Chalk Fest:This celebration of art, community and the completion of the new 350 foot long street mural Sweet Network takes place Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Downtown Silver Spring on Ellsworth Drive. Enjoy music by DJ L. Boogie, button making stations with Arts on the Block, Kids’ creative corner, and enter to create a chalk masterpiece. Find more information here.

Sunday, June 30
Storytime in the Garden: This activity is for children ages 3-7 at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton. First, children will enjoy a story time followed by an outdoor exploration. Mr. Lilo!: Enjoy this joyful, bilingual sing-along, dance-along, adventure filled program Sunday, June 30 at the Rockville Memorial Library from 11 to 11:45 a.m. This is a summertime program for children of all ages and their families. Lilo Gonzalez (aka Mr. Lilo!) is a Salvadoran-American singer and songwriter whose engaging performances and award-winning recordings convey a message to audiences of all ages that no matter how small or tall we are, we can all be part of building a better world. Pride in the Plaza: Show your pride in Silver Spring’s Veterans Plaza for a fun, all-day festival celebrating LGBTQ+ community, health, well-being, and joy. The festival is free for everyone. Check out local LGBTQ+ artists, businesses and supportive nonprofits, get free HIV testing, and enjoy live music. Sunday, June 30 from noon to 8 p.m. Find more information to plan your visit here.
