Update: The bomb threat has been determined as not valid, police shared in an update after 11 a.m., and the school is no longer under a shelter-in-place.
Original: Kennedy High School was in lockdown Tuesday morning due to a bomb threat, according to police.
The school in Wheaton-Glenmont has since transitioned to a shelter-in-place, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Police are on the scene investigating the validity of the threat, MCPD shared shortly after 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday is the second day of the new school year for Montgomery County Public Schools.
Last Tuesday, officers responded to the private Bullis School in Potomac for a reported bomb threat, which police believed was related to an earlier threat this month at Westfield Montgomery mall.
