Labor Day Parade Marches Through Olde Towne Gaithersburg

Crowds lined streets in Gaithersburg on Monday for the annual Labor Day parade.

The parade — canceled last year for excessive heat — made its way down East Diamond and Russell avenues. There were bands, dancers, antique cars and more.

“It’s always wonderful to celebrate Labor Day with our community,” said Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman. “We have perfect weather,” he said, noting last year’s cancellation.

“It is tremendously special,” said Ashman.

“I’m excited,” said Adriana Carrillo, sophomore at Watkins Mill High School, who performed in the parade as part of the school’s color guard alongside the marching band.
