Fantasy roleplay enthusiasts gathered at Lake Needwood in Rock Creek Regional Park to compete in a highly anticipated event hosted by Live Action Role-play Adventures (LARP).
The event took place on Saturday, March 15, at 15700 Needwood Lake Cir, Derwood, MD.
LARP is a live-action role-playing group that organizes monthly events where participants can immerse themselves in fantasy themed roleplay and combat reenactments with detailed foam weapons and costumes.
One player shared how the experience helped them connect with different parts of themselves.
“With everything that is going on in the world right now, and a lot of uncertainties in real life, it’s nice to come and be someone else for a few hours and have fun,” they said.
Another player reflected on the growth of the community, adding, “ We’ve grown a lot in the past couple of years, and to have a space where we all fit and we can all come together and have a great time, it’s wonderful.”
LARP Adventures is just one of the Live Action Role Playing groups in the county. Their next event takes place in Derwood on Saturday, June 14.
