Franchot Offers Last Minute Tips for Wednesday’s Tax Deadline

The July 15 tax deadline for federal, state, and local taxes is here. After a three month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 600,000 Marylanders are expected to file tax returns by Wednesday’s deadline.

Comptroller of Maryland Peter Franchot says residents can request an extension to file tax returns by October 15. Taxpayers are encouraged to pay whatever they can by July 15. Payment plan options are also available for people if needed, according to state officials.

Franchot talked to MyMCMedia by phone with some last minute advice.
