A Kensington Sunoco gas station recently sold a winning Maryland Lottery ticket to a Laurel resident.
The unidentified woman, an animal technician, traveled to the Lottery claim center in Baltimore to redeem her winnings. She told the lottery officials she realized she was a big winner in the gas station and somehow managed to keep her composure.
She plans to save the money for retirement and to spend time with family members.
The Sunoco located at 10550 Connecticut Avenue in Kensington receives a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the winning ticket.
Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
