Montgomery County residents can run alongside both Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers and Special Olympics athletes Friday at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda.
Check-in will start at 11:30 a.m. at Rose Park, Rose Avenue, with the race beginning at noon.
An opening ceremony will be led by representatives from both Montgomery County Law Enforcement and Special Olympics Maryland.
The untimed race measures approximately a mile around the perimeter of Pike & Rose. The route spans parts of Old Georgetown Road and Rockville Pike.
Established in 1981, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics sees law enforcement agencies all over the world join together to promote the Special Olympics’ mission of encouraging diversity and inclusion in sports. In Maryland, organizers have previously held the race at Rock Creek Regional Park.
