Several Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will again offer the “Read Across Generations” program to help younger students with reading during the summer months, beginning July 8.

Designed for children in kindergarten through third grade, the program pairs each child with a volunteer to practice reading aloud one-on-one. Read Across Generations is a partnership between MCPL, the Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA), and the Heyman Interages Center.

The program will run for five weeks, from July 8 through August 10, at five county libraries: Aspen Hill, Gaithersburg, Rockville Memorial, Wheaton, and White Oak.

Registration is not required. Interested students can bring their own book or select one from the library. Trained by JCA staff, volunteer reading partners will guide the sessions.
