The Maryland Task Force 1 Urban and Rescue team was activated Thursday and currently is preparing to head to Kentucky to help following severe weather conditions there and in Tennessee.
Members, who include emergency personnel from Montgomery County, are assembling gear and preparing for deployment, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
An incident support team likely will also be deployed, he said.
