Schools and community organizations are offering free lunches at 144 locations throughout the summer for children 18 years or younger,
According to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), the Summer Meals Program is designed to bridge the “nutrition gap” now that school is out.
Most of the locations, but not all, offer both breakfasts and lunches Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary. The meals must be eaten at the location.
Also, Giant grocery store is teaming up with MCPS to support kids facing food insecurity. Shoppers can round up their bill at the register or donate through Giant Delivers and Giant Pickup.
The Summer Meals Program keeps kids nourished when school's out.
