The Washington Regional Alcohol Program’s (WRAP) 2024 Halloween SoberRide® program offers free Lyft rides to prevent drunk driving. Rides are available from 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, until 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 27. Nearly half of all U.S. highway deaths during Halloween involve drunk drivers, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
During the 12-hour period, area residents 21 and older who drink can use Lyft for a free ride home (up to $15). To redeem, they must download the Lyft app and enter the SoberRide® promotion code in the app’s “Payment” tab under “Add Lyft Pass.” The promo code will be posted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, at www.SoberRide.com.
Last Halloween, 1,321 people in the Washington area used SoberRide® instead of driving impaired, a record for the program.
Founded in 1982, WRAP’s SoberRide® ensures Washington, D.C. area residents have safe transportation on high-risk holidays. Since 1991, WRAP has provided more than 90,769 rides. The program also offers free rides on St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Independence Day, and the winter holidays through New Year’s.
