Police said a man has been arrested and charged for shooting two employees at Topgolf in Germantown this week.
Cyprian Nwaigwe, 28, is charged with the shooting that occurred after midnight Tuesday, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD). Nwaigwe is from Montgomery Village, according to online case records.
Police previously shared that an unknown male suspect allegedly shot two employees after an altercation at Topgolf in Germantown. An 18-year-old man was shot in the lower body and a 23-year-old man was shot in the upper body. The employees were taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to an update from police, a 23-year-old security guard at Topgolf told Nwaigwe to leave because the establishment was closing for the night. Nwaigwe got into a physical altercation with the guard, and it continued to the front door area. There, Nwaigwe pulled a handgun and shot the security guard and the 18-year-old employee. Nwaigwe left the scene, police stated.
He was identified as the suspect through investigation. According to police, an arrest warrant was obtained to charge him with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of firearm use in felony violent crime.
Officers found Nwaigwe at a hotel in Ocean City close to 1 a.m. Wednesday and arrested him. MCPD was assisted by the Ocean City Police Department. Nwaigwe is at the county’s Central Processing Unit awaiting a bond hearing, according to MCPD.
