Jorge Rueda Landeros was arrested in Mexico and charged with the 2010 murder of American University professor Sue Marcum of Bethesda.
Rueda Landeros has been extradited to Montgomery County and will have his first court appearance on Wednesday afternoon at the Rockville District Court.
After twelve years on the run, murderer Rueda Landeros was arrested in Mexico. In December 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – Baltimore Field Office received information that Rueda Landeros was likely living in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
FBI officials coordinated with Mexican authorities to extradite Rueda Landeros. He was returned to Montgomery County on Tuesday, July 25, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
Marcus Jones, Montgomery County Chief of Police, representatives from the FBI Baltimore Field Office, MCPD Major Crimes Detectives, and John McCarthy, Montgomery County State’s Attorney, will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Montgomery County Department of Police Headquarters.
