Police said officers arrested a stabbing suspect with the help of a good Samaritan on Monday.
Marcus Dwayne Jackson, 39, of Washington, D.C., is charged with attempted second-degree murder and other charges, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
MCPD, Metro Transit Police, and D.C. Metropolitan Police officers responded to 2 Wisconsin Circle in Chevy Chase at about 9:21 a.m. Monday for a reported stabbing. Officers found a 66-year-old woman with apparent stab wounds, according to police. She was given life-saving measures at the scene and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. According to police, the victim was sitting on a bench in the area when Jackson stabbed her in the upper body and left running toward D.C.
A good Samaritan saw the stabbing, immediately called 911 to report the crime, and followed Jackson to Connecticut and Western avenues, according to police. There, D.C. Metropolitan Police officers took Jackson into custody.
MCPD got an arrest warrant charging Jackson with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. As of Monday afternoon, he was awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
