Man Charged with Manslaughter in Layhill High-Speed Fatal Crash

A Virginia man has been charged with manslaughter after a woman died in a two-car crash in March in the Layhill area.

Vincent Anderson, Jr., 36, of Lynchburg, has been charged with criminally negligent manslaughter and failure to control speed to avoid a collision, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

Anderson was charged in September and accepted a plea agreement last week. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 9, according to police.

77-year-old Maria Antonieta Perdomo of Silver Spring died in the crash. According to police, she was driving a Subaru Outback, and was making a left turn from northbound Layhill Road go to west on Bel Pre Road. Anderson, who was driving a Tesla Model Y, was going southbound on Layhill Road and collided with Perdomo in the intersection.

According to police, Anderson was going 77 mph when he crashed with Perdomo. Perdomo was pronounced dead at the scene.
