A man has been convicted in a retrial for a 2019 fatal stabbing that occurred in Germantown.
Kyle Noble, 30, of an unknown address, was convicted by a jury in Montgomery County Circuit Court on Friday, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).
He was convicted on charges of second-degree murder and armed robbery relating to the death of 31-year-old Efrain Arias, per MCSAO.
Noble faces up to 60 years in prison as well as a 25-year mandatory minimum because it is his third violent crime conviction in Maryland. He killed Arias while on probation for a 2017 stabbing in Frederick County, according to MCSAO.
He is scheduled to be sentenced July 17.
According to MCSAO, on Sept. 15, 2019, Noble confronted Arias as the victim got out of the vehicle in the parking lot at the Extended Stay America hotel on Milestone Center Drive. Noble chased Arias into a field near the parking lot and fatally stabbed him. He came back and robbed the dying man, MCSAO stated.
“As stated by the prosecutors in court, the attack was fueled by drug-seeking behavior and a jealous rage, as the victim was a friend of the defendant’s ex-girlfriend,” per MCSAO.
He was arrested and charged by Montgomery County Police in 2019.
The original trial ended with a hung jury in Sept. 2022.
In a written statement, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said, “This is a situation where it took a number of years and continued dedication on the part of our prosecution team and the Montgomery County Police Department to ensure justice was served. We are grateful to them along with the men and women of the jury and the witnesses who participated and testified during trial.”
