A man was found guilty for a 2021 murder in a Silver Spring apartment building.
On Friday, a jury found defendant Tremayne Dorsey, 44, guilty of first-degree murder, felony murder, home invasion, counts of first-degree assault, and counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).
According to MCSAO, on Nov. 30, 2021, Dorsey forced his way into an apartment around the 12300 block of Treetop Drive and shot and killed 39-year-old James Beverly. Beverly’s family members were inside the unit just feet away. Dorsey also assaulted two women in the apartment. Police found him almost one month later in Virginia.
Dorsey knew the victims, according to MCSAO. He previously stayed at the home with them and had a falling out.
He is set to be sentenced March 23. MCSAO said Dorsey faces up to life in prison.
