A Germantown man was sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty last week to narcotics distribution and possession.
Eon Brummell, 27, was sentenced to 20 years in prison with all but five years suspended, plus five years of supervised probation after release, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).
According to charging documents, a bag of 634 blue pills containing fentanyl was recovered from Brummell when he was arrested in June.
He pleaded guilty Oct. 30 to a distribution of narcotics charge, which came from an incident in May 2022, according to MCSAO, as well as to possession of a large amount of narcotics, which resulted from the 634 pills recovered during his arrest. A circuit court judge issued the sentence at the time of last month’s plea hearing.
Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy stated the pills were made to look like pharmaceutical medication.
“These pills, made to look like pharmaceutical medication were, in fact, fentanyl,” McCarthy said in a written statement. “Fentanyl-related deaths are plaguing the nation and we thank all involved in working to remove dangerous, illicit substances from our community. The arrest was the result of a joint investigation with Montgomery County Police Department who participated in the DEA, HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Task Force. We commend the detectives, Assistant State’s Attorney Daniel Kroepsch who handled prosecution, and Judge Johnson who issued an appropriate prison sentence.”
