Update: In a release Wednesday, police identified the victim as 28-year-old Juan Guerrero-Moreno of Silver Spring.
According to police, a driver in a 2021 Genesis G70 was going northbound on Great Seneca Highway when “for reason still under investigation” the driver struck Guerrero-Moreno, who was operating a zero-turn riding mower while crossing the northbound lanes of Great Seneca.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 240-773-6620.
Original: Police said a 28-year-old man operating a riding lawn mower died Tuesday after a collision on Great Seneca Highway.
County police, Gaithersburg police, and fire rescue personnel responded to Great Seneca Highway and High Gables Drive close to 1:15 p.m. for a reported crash involving a vehicle and the operator of a riding lawn mower, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
First responders found the operator of the lawn mower unresponsive in the road, according to police. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
The driver in the striking car, which was a 2021 Genesis G70, remained at the scene.
MCPD said the name of the decedent will be shared after notifying next of kin.
