A Silver Spring man was sentenced to serve 45 years in prison Friday for shooting and killing someone in an elementary school parking lot in 2021.
Keith Delcid-Palacios, 25, from the Wheaton area, was found guilty last year of second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and other charges for shooting and killing 21-year-old Martin Nolan and for the attempted shooting of someone else, according to Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).
In Jan. 2021, Nolan was sitting in the driver’s seat of his parked car in the parking lot of Highland Elementary School in Wheaton with a friend in the passenger seat, according to MCSAO. Delcid-Palacios walked up and started yelling and pistol whipping Nolan in the head. Nolan put the car in drive and Delcid-Palacios threatened him. Nolan started to drive, and Delcid-Palacios shot and struck Nolan, who lost control of the car and struck another car.
Nolan died from the gunshot wound and the victim in the passenger seat ran from the car while Delcid-Palacios fired shots at him but did not strike him.
According to MCSAO, his brother Jeffery Delcid-Palacios pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of justice. He was sentenced to serve 36 days in prison.
