Black Family Wellness Expo

The Silver Spring Chapter of The Links, Incorporated invites the community to a free health and wellness event for the whole family. Connect with health care practitioners, explore wellness services, and take advantage of free health screenings. The expo will also feature educational sessions on mental health, health equity, and more (see the agenda for details). Enjoy refreshments and enter to win door prizes.

Sticks +Bars Marimba Ensemble

Experience the energetic rhythms of Sticks + Bars, D.C.’s only African-style youth marimba band. This free concert highlights the vibrant sounds of Southern Africa and celebrates diverse musical traditions from around the world. Seating is first come, first served, with limited parking available nearby. Donations are welcome to support the group.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Springtime Dance with Silly Goose and Val
Gaithersburg

Kick off spring with a lively, interactive performance featuring ventriloquist, composer, and musician Val Smalkin. Join Silly Goose and friends—Willie the Worm, Rufus the Reluctant Dragon, and Flora Flower—for a joyful mix of songs, comedy, and storytelling. Perfect for young children and their families!

Kamishibai

Discover the art of Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese form of street theatre and storytelling. In this five-session workshop, children (ages 8–10) will create and illustrate their own stories, riddles, and haikus, presenting them in an authentic Kamishibai stage. Art materials are provided. Participants must attend all five sessions (no class on April 19).
