UCLA put up a fight against the defending champs LSU – leading by one with under 2:00 to play – but lost 78-69. LSU advances to the Elite 8 against the winner of Iowa-Colorado. The Bruins and sophomore star from Bethesda Kiki Rice end their season 27-7.
The Tigers were led by Flau’jae Johnson’s 24 points and 12 rebounds. Angel Reese added 16 and 11 despite foul trouble. UCLA’s 6’7″ center Lauren Betts scored 14 points, pulled down 17 rebounds and had 4 blocked shots. Sidwell Friends alum Rice scored 13 points for UCLA before fouling out.
