Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Friday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 16,153 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 97 from the 16,056 cases reported Thursday.
Since the first case in March, 728 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of three since Thursday. More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 696 residents, the second-highest number.
The positivity rate of 3.75% reported Friday is a decrease of 0.20% since Thursday. The is the third straight day the rated remained below 4%.
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
As of Friday morning, there have been 76,371 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 707 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,227 Marylanders, 12 since Thursday.
Currently, 434 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is two fewer than Thursday. Of the 434 patients currently hospitalized, 128 are in intensive care, which is nine fewer than Thursday.
The health department reported a testing positivity rate of 4.43% Friday. This is a decrease of 0.18% from Thursday’s rate of 4.61%. The rate has remained below 5% since June 25th.
Statewide, a total of 22,225 cases and 1,310 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
