When Maryland Delegate Ariana Kelly of District 16 learned of the leaked draft that showed that the U.S. Supreme Court is prepared to reverse Roe v. Wade, she tweeted, “It’s happening and I want to vomit.”
She also tweeted, “We should not be surprised by what the Supreme Court is doing to Roe. But we should be disgusted. #WomenAre People.”
Delegate David Moon of District 20 drove to the Supreme Court to join a protest.
Other federal, state and county legislators also took to Twitter to register their support for the 1973 landmark decision in which Supreme Court justices ruled that the U.S. Constitution protects a pregnant woman’s right to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction.

Overturning Roe is not about babies. It’s about the MAGA patriarchy stigmatizing abortion to maintain power and keep people down. We must teach our children that abortion access is essential for economic opportunity, social mobility, empowerment. #TheyWontPayfortheBabies

Devastated by the draft SCOTUS opinion to take away women's control of our bodies. We have expanded abortion care access in Maryland & will continue to do so. Majorities matter. Elections matter. We will keep fighting.#mybodymychoice #AbortionIsHealthcare

If it sticks, this terrible decision to overturn the constitutional right to abortion will open up a difficult new chapter in our history. I will do everything in my power to protect and expand access to abortion care here and nationwide. https://t.co/1aYgcqukOu

Tonight we are witnessing a horrendous attack on our fundamental rights. I have worked most of my life to ensure safe, legal abortion care is available. We will not stop.

No, it's not. These hot takes about trust among Justices are dead wrong. The gravest, most unforgivable sin is overturning a half century worth of settled law protecting a woman's right to control her own body. https://t.co/F5h62Yj2tD

First they came for Roe.
We know whose freedoms they want next.
If you’re not preparing for November’s elections, you’re doing it wrong.

The draft SCOTUS opinion—allowing laws banning abortion in all cases, including rape—shows a right-wing majority poised to destroy Roe, Casey and the constitutional right to privacy.
Striking down fundamental rights, they seek to usher in an Orban-style “illiberal democracy.”

If this draft decision stands, the Supreme Court will strip Americans of their reproductive rights and put the lives & health of millions of women at risk. The Trump SCOTUS nominees’ claims to respect precedent were lies. We must overcome this and codify Roe V. Wade NOW. https://t.co/snox28IVZG
