Three Maryland lawmakers joined the rally to support federal workers and the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol Tuesday.

AFGE work at many different agencies throughout the government. And their jobs include nurses, doctors, TSA agents and U.S. Park Rangers. According to its website, the union has seen a surge in membership in the last month with the highest in its history at 321,000.

Showing their support were Maryland senators Angela Alsobrooks, Chris Van Hollen and Representative April McClain Delaney.

13,000 Marylanders in various agencies around the state belong to AFGE.
