Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for Feb. 4
The Maryland Department of Health reported 343 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Thursday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is currently 59,782.
Montgomery County recorded four new coronavirus-related fatalities Thursday, bringing the death toll to 1,280.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 5.11% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.11 from Wednesday’s average rate of 5.22%. The positivity rate continues to drop and for the ninth straight day, the rate is below 6%. Only five jurisdictions in Maryland — Allegany County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Garrett County, and Kent County — have a lower rate.
With 1,280 COVID-19 related fatalities, Montgomery County leads the state in fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has the most coronavirus cases in the state with 68,772 cases and 1,218 fatalities.
Somerset County located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore has the most cases per capita cases in the state with 89 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 88.6 cases per 1,000 residents.

Thursday the state recorded 1,554 new infections. The state’s cumulative case count is now 359,037.
There are 1,426 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 across the state as of Thursday morning.
Thursday the state recorded 31 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll to 7,074.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 5.89% for positive COVID-19 tests Thursday. This is a decrease of 0.07 from Wednesday’s rate of 5.96%. The state’s positivity has been below 6% for more than a week since Jan. 29.
