Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for Feb. 18
The Maryland Department of Health reported 143 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Thursday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is currently 62,085.
Montgomery County recorded 11 new coronavirus-related fatalities Thursday, bringing the death toll to 1,348.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 3.58% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is no change from Wednesday’s average rate. The positivity rate is lower than the rate in 17 of the 24 Maryland jurisdictions. This is the fifth day the rate remains below 4%.
With 1,348 COVID-19 related fatalities, Montgomery County leads the state in fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has the most coronavirus cases in the state with 71,586 cases and 1,275 fatalities.
Somerset County located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore has the most cases per capita cases in the state with 92 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 90.5 cases per 1,000 residents.

Thursday the state recorded 986 new infections. The state’s cumulative case count is now 373,966. Gov. Hogan announced Wednesday that the state has confirmed its first case of the P.1. COVID-19 variant which was first detected in Brazil.
There are 1,048 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 across the state as of Thursday morning.
Thursday the state recorded 30 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll to 7,479.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 4.13% for positive COVID-19 tests Thursday. This is a decrease of 0.04 from Wednesday’s rate of 4.17%. The state’s positivity has been below 5% for one week since Feb. 12.
