The first convoy of the Maryland Task Force 1 now is on its way to Atlanta, Georgia with several tractor trailers and a box truck full of equipment. It first will report to a staging area in Atlanta.

Members of the Maryland Task Force 1 with water rescue capabilities are preparing for deployment Wednesday afternoon to help Florida rescue workers as they deal with Tropical Storm Helene.
Several Urban Search and Rescue team members from Montgomery County are part of the team.
The Maryland team is being deployed to the Gulf States Region.
As requested by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Maryland team will staff incident support teams, including communication specialists.
