Maryland has the third best school system in the nation, according to finance website WalletHub.

WalletHub’s study compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across two categories and 32 metrics. The categories, “Quality” and “Safety,” each encompass numerous factors. The “Quality of Education” score includes 15 metrics such as the number of Blue Ribbon schools per capita, high school graduation rates among low-income students, dropout rates, and standardized test scores. The “Safety” score considers 17 metrics including digital learning plans, student safety perceptions, access to illegal drugs, incidents of violence, and bullying rates.

Maryland ranked fifth in “Quality” and fourth in “Safety.”

The top ten states are Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Nebraska, New York, Virginia, and North Dakota.
