Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students had the option of wearing masks on Wednesday for the first time since the pandemic started. MyMCM spoke with Bethesda Chevy Chase High School students during dismissal time on Wednesday about the new option of mask-wearing in MCPS schools.
The Montgomery County Schools’ Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to make the wearing of masks optional in all schools and MCPS provided transportation.
The Board emphasized everyone should be respectful of the individual choices of all students and teachers.
Superintendent Monifa Mcknight said MCPS will closely monitor COVID-19 cases and will revisit their decision if the county moves out of its current low transmission status.
