A Montgomery Village man, who was found guilty of killing his wife, has received a maximum prison sentence.

Jean Pierre, 50, was sentenced to 40 years in prison Friday in circuit court, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO). It is the maximum penalty for second-degree murder. Pierre was found guilty in May, and the jury deliberated for only two hours, per MCSAO.

According to MCSAO, Pierre is believed to have stabbed and killed his wife, 41-year-old Nerlande Foreste, in their home on Rothbury Lane in Montgomery Village in Aug. 2019. He is believed to have placed Foreste’s body in a shipping container and put it in a dumpster, per MCSAO. Foreste’s remains have not been found.

Following the sentencing Friday, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said he believes this is only the third time in the history of Maryland there has ever been a murder conviction without recovery of a body.

After the conviction in May, McCarthy said Foreste’s body has never been recovered and “is likely never to be recovered based on the way the body was disposed of,” McCarthy said.

Foreste was Pierre’s second wife.

Pierre’s daughter — Foreste’s stepdaughter — was the state’s star witness in the case, according to McCarthy.
